Staff Development - What, why and how?

What

  • 3 staff development sessions “Celebrating Diversity” took place. One was delivered specifically for Essential Skills teaching staff and 2 were open to cross college teaching staff

  • One to one support given to teachers who volunteered for curriculum pilot

Why

  • The college had not undertaken any specific training to support tutors with embedding of LGBT or Embedding E&D themes

  • To support the development of outstanding teaching and learning

  • To support the success of the project as a whole

  • To raise awareness amongst teaching staff, about the ways to support inclusivity

  • To support the college to have “due regard and promote equality and diversity”

 

How

  • Project coordinator developed on an existing LGBT awareness training package to fit the teaching staff at Morley

  • Expert advice was sought from Christine Rose (national E&D consultant)

  • Session was quality assured to ensure its usability outside of Morley College
