Day In Floristry Workshop.

What lovely time the girls and myself had in floristry. It was only one day workshop to give the girls a taster in to what the floristry intails. We made a posy for valentines out of a basic bunch of flowers from aldi to give the girls an idea of how to budget While still getting a lovely posy.This was a popular course that all the girls would like to do more. with a few of them enrolling in a college course for floristry.

Also going strong is the nail treatment course the girls are loving putting together their portfolio and learning to gain qualifications in new trade that most of them as well have decide to enrol in college for this coming term.

Introduction to basic English skills.

In today's English class we learnt how to engage in role play, introducing different key roles e.g. if you had a magic wand what would you to do to change yourself, family and your world. We got in to groups and completed the task using non-verbal communication. The women loved this, as it was confidence building and also showed Anna the tutor our writing skills and where we needed to improve. In the third week we engaged in writing a fantasy story of our choice, then passing it on to next person to write their own take on the story, and then keep passing on to the next person so they can all add their own follow on to the story. This was a helpful insight for Anna to see what progress and improvement me and the girls were making. The girls and myself enjoy this learning method from Anne which this providing us with the basic key skills in English and giving us confidence to progress. Its not all academia work as we also involved in the Introduction to nail treatment starting on 7/2/2014, Its a six week course to help women gain general knowledge of Nails and to build up a portfolio so the women can use these skills to progress into further Education.

Hi my name is Jennie. Today I have started as a Learning Champion Apprentice at Tomorrow's Women Wirral (TWW) in Birkenhead. I am the apprentice for the Tomorrow Today Project, which is a partnership between the local college, Wirral Metropolitan College and Tomorrow's Women Wirral. TWW is a registered charity that is 'designed to benefit ALL women in the community' but 'has at its heart, a commitment to reduce female imprisonment, female offending and provide support and assistance to those women in recovery'. My job is to help and promote services in the centre and guide the women into courses or any activities that they want to get involved with. There are a range of support services on offer in the centre. My role as a Learning Champion will be to meet and greet, befriend, listen and hopefully encourage new women who call in to the centre to take part in a range of short taster courses , workshop and follow up courses, which I will help to set up after listening to their suggestions.

My past experience in life has enabled me to get this job. My life experiences are very similar to a lot of the girls that come to centre. I grew up in Birkenhead in a council area where money and jobs were tight. I grew up in a loving and secure family. As a teenager I got into the wrong crowd. At the age of 18 got pregnant with my daughter - living on benefits and getting by. Debts and money issues became problem. I couldn't afford to pay for my car insurance and Tax MOT and this caused me a lot of stress, due to the police catching me and arresting me, which caused me to end up in court and my punishment was paying a fine which caused financial difficulties.

Learning Champion Apprenticeship Tomorrow's Women Wirral

Im here to introduce myself, my name is Jennie and ill be starting new job in january, for Wirral met in conjuction with tomorrows women. My role is to help mentor, and become an active member in tomorrow women. my job description is to do weekly blogging of my role at Tomorrow's Women Wirral, which could be different programs such as Re-Cycle group, Reiki, Reflexology, EPP energy advice and many more. Tomorrow's Women Wirral is a charity based on women only. The women can came from all different types of background. Will be back next month with the latest information.

Tomorrow Today Project Christmas Floristry Workshop

We have just had a great session making Christmas wreaths and table top decorations at the centre. 12 women made fantastically professional decorations. We are aiming to start a Horticulture and Floristry course in the new year as part of the project.

Ladies Day at Tomorrow's Women Wirral

Tomorrows's Woman Wirral held an event called Ladies Day

Ladies Day at TWW was our opportunity to launch the Tomorrow Today Project with new women who were invited to the centre from the Drugs and Alcohol Service. The College adviser was there as well as the Project Manager. I was taking the photographs! This will explain the quality! New women were encouraged to join our Confidence Building Course which starts on Tuesday 26th November - good place to start. College Hair and Beauty students came over from the main Wirral Met. College campus to do pamper sessions with the women. They are now coming every week to do hair appointments - great for their understanding of working with a range of different clients and groups. It will also give the students' a greater understanding of the barriers that many women.who use TWW face in their recovery and rehabilitation. The Ladies day was a great success. Lots of agencies were there to talk to women.

Main Purpose of Job

As part of the ‘Tomorrow Today’ project this role is to engage and support
vulnerable women, some of whom are as risk of offending or on probation, to make
positive life choices through learning and to act as a positive role model.
